U.K Health Secretary, Sajid Javid has announced that over 80 private Covid travel test providers listed on the government’s website will be issued two-strike warnings over misleading prices.
Javid further revealed that 57 firms will be removed from the website on Monday for reason of their no longer existence or they do not provide the relevant tests.
The health secretary said, “It is absolutely unacceptable for any private testing company to be taking advantage of holidaymakers and today’s action clamps down on this cowboy behaviour.
“57 firms will be removed from the Gov.UK list and a further 82 will be given a two-strike warning – if they advertise misleading prices ever again, they’re off.”
Javid said the government will also introduce spot checks on the test providers.
The UK government has made it compulsory for test to be conducted for international travel to England and on arrival in the UK.
The government website has a list of private companies that offer these tests, but recent review by the UK Department of Health discoveries that the prices displayed on the Gov.UK site were lower than the actual amount they cost.
