Twitter is set to collaborate with two large international news sites Reuters and the Associated Press, to tackle disinformation on its site.
Twitter revealed the partnership, adding that it will enable it ensure the rapid availability of accurate and credible information “when facts are in dispute”.
“Rather than waiting until something goes viral, Twitter will contextualize developing discourse at pace with or in anticipation of the public conversation,” Twitter said.
The news sites will help Twitter in giving more context and background information on events that create a high level of tweets.
The social media app company hopes this will help fight the spread of misleading information.
