Actress, Scarlett Johansson is set to sue Disney for breach of contract as they streamed her superhero movie, Black Widow at the same time as its cinema release.

The movie set a box office record of $218m (£157m) in its first weekend.

However, the box office earnings then fell sharply and actress Johansson argues that she was deprived potential earnings by Disney.

Responding, Disney said it had “fully complied” with her contract and her case had “no merit whatsoever”.

Meanwhile, Johansson said she was promised by Marvel Studios owners of Disney, that Black Widow would be a “theatrical release”, adding that she had understood this to mean a “window” of time would pass before they streamed the movie on their platform.
